Castello di Venere
Latest update: 9 February 2024
The Castello di Venere is a twelfth century fortress in the hill town of Erice in Sicily, overlooking the port city of Trapani, some 750 metres above sea level. Translating as "Castle of Venus", the edifice replaced a Roman Temple that used to occupy the same site.
Located at the eastern edge of the historic town, the castle affords some dramatic views of the coast and across to Monte Cofano. |
