Palermo Airport is situated around thirty kilometres from Sicily's capital, Palermo and is the second busiest airport on the island after Catania Airport. Each year it handles around seven million passengers compared to Catania's ten million.

Known also as Falcone Borsellino Airport or its old name, Punta Raisa Airport, its location makes it convenient for onward journeys to the seaside town of Cefalù (98 km), the beach resort of San Vito Lo Capo (87 km), or the city of Trapani (85 km) from where you can take a ferry across to the Aegadian Islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo.
Many travellers use Palermo Airport for connecting flights to the Sicilian islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria, or to head north to the mainland cities of Rome, Milan or Naples for example.
