Ciao a tutti! Sicily Review and each of the other websites in the Italy Review Network are the brainchild of myself, Dion Protani, so I thought I'd reserve a little space here to explain a little bit about who I am and why I started this.
I'm originally from the UK and although my surname will tell you I have Italian heritage, my Italian connection took on a much greater significance when I started living in Italy in 2013. I had the good fortune to find myself on the beautiful island of Ischia which at the time had relatively few English-speaking visitors compared to nearby Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast. So I decided to create a website to explain to people in English how to visit Ischia and ti highlight some of the things they could do once they reached the island. The website was Ischia Review which started to gain in popularity and as a result of that, I thought it would be a good idea to expand to the rest of the country. |
Over the past ten years or so I've travelled the length and breadth of Italy, taking photos and writing about the places I've visited for the various websites. Aside from Italy Review which covers the whole country, there are an increasing number of websites that now focus on individual Italian regions and of course one of the most important is Sicily.

Sicily Review and its aims
There is little that the islands of Ischia and Sicily have in common other than the fact they're both surrounded by water and both exceptionally pretty. Sicily though is the largest Italian region with a population of in the region of 5 million and almost ten thousand square miles of territory to explore.
Where Ischia might not be a name that every traveller is familiar with, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that's never heard of Sicily so the dynamics for a website guide to the region are somewhat different. With Sicily, it's not so much a case of introducing a destination as bringing to life some of its hidden charm, mystique and fantastic holiday possibilities.
With Sicily Review the aim is to bring the island to life by showing you the most interesting places on the island, talking about its history, food and culture in general, connecting you with great people that can offer fascinating excursions and also offering you our own range of services such as private transfers and boat tours.
