The Ionian Coast of Sicily stretches for around 150 kilometres from the Messina Strait down to Capo Passero in the island's south-eastern corner.
Two of Sicily's most important cities face out on to the Ionian Sea on the island's eastern coast: the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Catania and Syracuse, while a third city, Messina stands between the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north. The jewel in the crown of the Ionian Coastline of Sicily is the hill own of Taormina which feeds down into the spectacular Isola Bella. |
